Default We finished the head/cam swap!!

Well me and Jim(y2khawk05) did his head/cam install this weekend. It took us a while, but we did it. HE is now running stage 3 5.3 HPE heads, HPE c cam, ported ls6 oil pump, FAST 90mm intake, and Nick Williams 90mm tb. The car sounds awesome!! I have a video of it at idle, but I cant get it on the computer yet. I might have to wait till next weekend to do it. I'll post some pics of it in about 15 min.

Before we started.

A hint of whats to come!!

In the process of tearing it all down.

The picture of the cam didnt turn out good, so thats why its not on here.

Well I think we got to excited and we forgot to take a picture of the finished product. Next time I hook up with Jim I'll get the finished product pic. We had a blast doing this. The only think I didnt really like was that it was so farking cold. And Jim if you read this, you might as well go ahead and order some new tires cuz the ones you have are gonna be bald before the new ones come in. haha

That cam is almost identicle to an off the shelf comp cam on XER lobes. 236/238 608 612 on a 112..... hmmm C-Cam?

Those heads look really nice by the way, who does their headwork for them?

I cannot thank Brandon (Blu98ta) enough for his help with my little Firehawk! He did some amazing work and is an incredible friend. It's very exciting to finally have a car that I hope will put down decent numbers. I went to HPE today to get my car re-tuned and as it turns out I need "shims" added between my rockers and the push rods. I have a little noise from the valve train that will go away with proper adjustments. Tomorrow at 1:30 my car goes back to HPE to get the final adjustments and tuning. I will post the numbers as soon as I have them. Thanks for the positive replies to Brandon's post. Brandon is a true LS1Tech'r, passionate about his & friend's cars and genuinely a great guy to know. His 98 TA is a bad boy and inspired me to go forward with my plan. He also told me about HPE having their heads "on sale" which also got me off my rear and order them. Again, thanks man! You are AWESOME!

Oh, and I hope to go the HRP and make a few passes. I will post those numbers too. I will say I am planning a trip to the Dallas area soon to run against DanoMach. I hear he runs in the 11's.

I've installed two of those and they don't sound very aggressive, although both made over 40x/410rwhp cam only w/bolt on 6sdp cars. Sounds like you guys had fun and will make some good power. I think HPE is still getting those heads from ETP if I am not mistaken, John (ULUZ) or Chuck could answer that for sure.

Ya Im not sure who did their head work. Jim could answer, cuz I think it said it on the box. I think I remember seeing ETP though.

The video will be up this weekend. Where can I host it? Do I just go directly to the video section, or do I need to host it like we do with pictures?

Im sure it would sound identicle to the cam you are selling, since duration, LSA, and centerline are what make a cam lope. I could care less about the motor, I was just saying unless it has different lobes, its almost identicle to the comp cam with XER's.

Not bashing the set up, should make some good numbers. keep us posted.

Got delt some tough news today. Seems that a couple of my lifters are bad. Hind sight, sure wish I would have replaced them this past weekend. Now I am looking at another $400.00 in parts (lifters, new head gaskets, head bolts) and pulling the heads again. Yuk! is my thought of the moment considering what we just did all this work this past weekend. Also, have clogged Cats causing obvious issues. Plan to either gut my SLP Cats and really make them high flow or going straight pipes and definitely electronic cut out soon. What the hey, it's only money. Right????
