I have used anything from Fram (I know they are supposed to suck) to Bosch, Delco, K&N, Mobile 1. I wont be using Fram anymore cause of all the negative comments here. I have recently picked up 3 AC delco filters on sale so I am good for a while. I also kinda like the Bosch. Seems to be built well. I change my oil often so I cant see the 10-12 bucks for K&N. My advice is to just stay away from the cheap junk.

im using the larger mobil filter M1-206 (i think) and i have no clearence problems at all install univisity says the LS1 takes 5.5 qt w/ filter and since it is bad to overfill i figured i'd go w/ the filter that makes it closer to 6 full qt.

Advance Auto Parts. The nut on the end hangs down below the pan a little.[On the hp 2006 that is.].If you hit something hard enough to to hit the bottom of the filter, you have other stuff to worry about.

Mobile 1 oil and oil filter, they fucked me over at my own dealership. I was thinking, lets keep some money internally maybe $30 max. ******* $62 later I got my keys. I will never get my oil changed here again.

Supertech (wal-mart brand), it's like 2 bucks and I've been using them forever and never had a problem with them.

I forget the part number, but the numbers match up with Fram and the others.

Well guys i just so happen to work at Autozone(this means i am no expert by the way ) and we cut open all of the filters we sell to do a comparison. I can tell you this as far as low end filters are concerned the STP filter is the better quality over Fram, and even the Fram Tough Guard it is also cheaper. As far as middle end filters go AC Delco, Bosch, and Motorcraft are alll about the same. The Bosch is a surprisingly well amde filter and i wouldnt hesitate to use one. The top filters K and N and Mobil 1. With Mobil 1 being the champion here. I know i would at Autozone so ill have my flame suit on here but this is just what i noticed.

Yes I use the 2006 and use all 6 quarts just fine. I've actually read where guys were using 6 1/2 quarts with the longer K&N.
