The search for a Dana 44 has me seriously pissed off.
I'm looking to buy the whole car now. If anyone knows of a C4 fitting this description - in decent shape - please let me know!
Looking in the under $8500 range.
I've already looked on Autotrader.com and have a couple of prospects there ;)
Might even be finders fee involved!

I saw a yellow 86 coupe for sale today on the eastside. I think the lot is called Eastside Auto. Its on E. Lk. Sammamish Rd right across from Krispey Kreme.

Thanks for the tip, Eric. I'll try to check that out.
Bill, The C4's have an IRS setup. Honestly, I'd go solid axle conversion for about $3000 before I'd pay $2000 for a C4 corvette specific Dana 44.
What really chaps me is that the C3's had Dana 44's that are almost the same but sell for $400-600 used regularly. The C5 rear stock diffs are in that same $400-600 price range. What the hell makes the C4 Dana 44 diff so special? The C4 Dana 36 sells for $300 or so used.
Clearly the Dana 44 is priced way out of line ($1500-2200).

What really chaps my hide is that I found a complete rear C4 suspension WITH Dana 44 for sale online within the last 48 hrs, but now that I'm looking for it for you I can't find it  I don't recall asking price however. If I re-find it I'll post it up.

Damn dude if you could come up in price a little, I know a guy selling a maroon 95 with 37k miles in absolutely perfect condition. I think he wants closer to 13 though.

THat would be a good deal if I was going to keep it... but I need to stay at the middle price point region (low= 4-5000, mid= 5-10,000, high= 10,000+). Staying in the middle should make it quicker to resell since it shouldn't have significant issues and is a low enough amount that most can finance it.

Aren't the Dana 44 C4 rears rather rare and desirable, hence the high price?

If you're buying a C4 for the D44, I believe the only years they were offered in the C4's were from like 89-96 and only in the 6sp cars. The auto's got the D36's if I'm not mistaken. Just be sure and know you're getting a 44 if that's what you're after and you might want to double check those years as I'm not a Vette expert. I just remember my friend mentioning it to me one time as he has two C4's.

I can get what I need off of a 1985-1996 Manual transmission C4. There is a means of visibly identifying the rear end externally. All the auto's got D36's and all 1984's supposedly got D36's. Hence the reason I am seeking a 1985-1996 Manual car.
I'll take the responsiblity for verifying... I just need leads that haven't been posted in the autotrader or papers!
Thanks All!

Dunno if this will help or not but I have seen this car on this used lot in Everett/Lynnwood (Hwy 99) for the last 3-4 weeks. It was gone for about 7-10 days but it is back out in front as of today with the price of $6,995 on the windshield. On the website it says "SOLD" but it was sitting out front today looking for a buyer. Prolly was bought and the guy couldn't get financed and had to give it back.
Anyway, it is a bright yellow 1990 6-spd with about 90k on it. Here is the link. Just have to go to "Inventory" and scroll down a couple cars. :)

There is also a dark red 40th Anny (1993) C4 at the VW dealership in Everett.....on Evergreen just before Everett Mall Way. I think they want $12,999 for that one though. Seems to be in much better shape and I don't know what kind of trans it has.

Thanks for the leads Rott! I might have to check out that yellow one (ewww.. yellow!). I've got my eye on a nice black LT1 right now. It's got a couple other swipeable goodies on it, too! ;)

Hey Cory. You want over priced? Try to buy an LT4 intake right now. Could buy them all day long for $200-$275 shipped two months ago......Over $1,200 for most now! Hell I am going to finish the N2O install on the one I got and pimp it out for $2k!

Yeah, yellow isn't for everyone....but if you are just gonna pirate stuff off it then resell it...........although the LT1 car prolly has better/more up to date stuff. Either way, good luck and I will keep an eye out for ya. There are a billion used car lots on Hwy 99. If ya come down to check out the ylw one, lemme know if you want someone to tag along to play devil's advocate/asshole friend. ;) Or we can just grab lunch or sumtin. :)

Sorry I didn't get back to you, Bill. I'm just in a "wait and see" mode on this. We went driving around and saw such a huge disparity between what people where asking for different year cars that it was really surprising. I think your car would be a good deal... but the market seems sketchy (as you know). I'd have to be able to resell fast and I just don't see it happening for an early or late model C4. I think it would have to be vert with the optional hard top for me to jump.
If you might like to deal on that Dana 44, though... I'll make you a pretty good $$ offer on that with a 3.07 Dana 36 and the right driveshaft and C beam to make the swap perfect. You'd still be able to sell a strong runner and it might help you get more of the dollars you deserve out of the car.
