emergency- stuck in 3RD
ok on the way to work this morning my m6 ground the first time i put it in 3rd and then when i shifted to 4th everything was normal. then i downshift to 3rd no grinding but it won't come out. i pulled into a parking lot. nothing is leaking that i can see. after it sets for a while it will move again but not for long. got stuck in 3rd again so i turned around and went back to the house all in 3rd gear. it set for a while and now it shifts again. i am having to miss work to fix this.
i just changed the clutch 500 miles ago with a ls6 clutch....any ideas????????

I would guess transmission? Mine did the exact same thing, I had to drive in third to include starting out from stop lights until I got it to a dealer. Ends up that I had to rebuild the trans., most notable were the bent shift forks. All in all, it took a week for parts to come in and the rebuild to be completed. I hope it's something less time consuming for you.

Sounds like you have a broken slider key. That is one of the most common problems but the only way to fix it is with a rebuild. Give me a call and you can take advantage of my special free shipping. To rebuild it now would be less than if you wait and keep driving it. The average rebuild is $890 and the dealerships charge $2000 no matter what is wrong it seams like. They charge double for parts and is really rediculously priced.
Thanks,
Joe

The proper term in the manual is keys it is item 119 in the exploded view of the tremec manual, and all t56 from 94 to present have steel slider hubs. I have taken apart many t56 transmissions from 94 Gm t56s to 03 cobra t56 to 05 dodge viper t56, and have never seen an aluminum slider hub. The transmission would not live a hundred miles with an aluminum slider hub. The hub takes all of the abuse.

I had the exact same problem with my 6sp. It turned out to be broken slider keys. There are some companies out there that have "billet" slider keys. They included G-Force Transmissions and Transmission Specialists. I have personally delt with Rodney at Transmission Specialists and he is a great guy to deal with who knows alot.
