Default Ok I need some advice; NITTO DR's . ..

Ok I ordered nt555's up front and 555r's out back. 275/40/17 on both. It's on my daily driver 15 or so miles each way on the highway a day. 300 mile road trips to see my gf on average 2-3 times a month. Will go to the track this spring, I drive alot. Have I made a costly mistake? It seems like the more I search, the more horror stories I find about issues with the 555r's in rain, on the highway, hard cornering etc. It seems like these threads have just "popped" up though per my previous searching, thats why I made this decision . ... Obvoiusly I'm gonna try them out and I guess if they freak me out I'll get another pair of nt555's for the back. What do you think? There going on Saturday. Thanks guys.

I can tell you that my nitto DR's in the rear are great in the summer. In the winter, when its really cold, the tires turn into bricks and i have no traction.
In the rain, my DR's are better than my stock tires.(maybe because they were bald).
You did'nt make a bad desicion.
Oh yeah, dont drive in the snow! I did last year and i got stuck thinkin it wasent gonna be as bad as they said.

Thanks, hopefully were done with snow here in STL, but I guess If I do get stuck in it it's gonna hurt. Other than that I should be ok though.

My g/f had them on her GT with 4:10s. They were fine in the rain. Just don't romp on it because if they break loose it is harder to get control back. If there is any and I mean any snow or ice on the ground the car will not move. It will go in reverse just fine though. I guess it's the way the tread is.

Just don't forget, they are "drag radials." They're not really meant for good hard cornering and inclimate weather conditions. I love mine, and think you made a great choice in tires. And I read in a consumer report that Nitto DR's are good for about 12k miles on "normal" driving. One other thing. When you go to the track, you won't need big burn-outs. The Nitto's heat up quick. As soon as you see smoke your good. Any more will just waste rubber.

Thanks for the feedback, so basically don't expect to push them any harder then I'm used to with my crap 16 stock wheels and cheap khumo tires right?

I bought the same setup you did last summer in Florida, when I got to Finland (the car is sitting until spring), I swapped to 555s all around (had to drive 400km to take it to my house though)... Im selling the 555Rs which are still brand new (no one has them over here, Nitto is not sold here either) because I dont plan on any drag strip time with the TA as of yet, and the drives here would wear them out quickly.

Mine did fine last summer. I got really good wear out of them. Mine hooked up good on the street too.
