A Newbies guide to LS1TECH:
Just been noticing a lot of newbie-like mistakes on here recently so I made up a little list to help everyone out.
A Newbie’s guide to LS1TECH:
How not to get flamed/banned/thread-locked:
1. Read first, ask questions latter!- In all likelihood someone has already asked your question, by spending five minutes reading old posts you can probably find the information you want without using up more much-needed space.
2. Post in the appropriate forum!- It only takes a minute to read through the lists of forums. Posting in the right one will get you better responses, faster. Example: If you have a transmission related question post it in the transmission forum, not the new owners forum. (Yes you will get answers ether way but it helps to put it in a specific forum.)
3. Read the stickies!- They appear in yellow at the top of every forum. They contain very useful or frequently asked questions. They are very helpful.
4. Use proper English!- Bad spelling, slang, and generally bad grammar will not help you make friends here on LS1TECH. Remember this is a technical site, no one will flame you for making little mistakes but take a minute to read your post before you submit it.
5. Do not respond to posts that you have nothing to add to!- If someone asks a question and you don’t know the answer then just leave it alone. Don’t post up and say, “well I don’t know but I’m sure someone else here will”. Doing so only wastes space. Note: If someone asks you for opinions then feel free to post.
6. Do not post in all caps!- IT GETS REALLY OLD REALLY FAST!
7. No Carfax requests!- When they say “no carfax requests” they mean it, asking nicely will not help, and your thread will be locked.
8. No non-sponsor ads!- This site is paid for by the sponsors on the right side of your screen. They pay good money to keep this site running so that we don’t have to. Please respect this.
9. Be polite, have fun, learn something!- Remember that a lot of people donate their time and energy to make this site a success. And a lot of members spend their time answering questions for us. In the end we’re all here to learn about the cars we love, so enjoy!
