flashing SES light
I installed a cam in my car one week ago and everything was fine until yesterday. It started having an erratic idle and I had to peddle the throttle until it found its idle @850-900rpms. I took off my ported tb to drill out the hole in the butterfly and ended up cleaning it in the process. I noticed that one of the pins on the 4-pin connector (IAC motor?) was bent. I straightend it out and now it sputters to about 3,000 rpm until the motor gets warm then it runs fine. The SES light will flash on/off at a constant rate until the motor is at operating temp. ANY IDEAS?
Thanks in advance for any help.

A flashing light means misfires. Check your plug wires, plugs, coil packs, and make sure the IAC is working (a cam will make the computer show more misfires the lower it idles).

Re: flashing SES light
Would the IAC throw a code mostly when its cold. It only does for a couple seconds while it's warming up. Could I have a broken valvespring? It doesn't miss when I'm driving it and seems to have tons of power. I haven't taken it above 4,000rpm since it starting doing it so I can't really tell if there is a dramatic power loss.

Re: flashing SES light
You should check your plug wires and make sure all of your fuel injectors and their connectors are plugged in securely. My car was doing the same thing till I noticed one of my fuel injectors had a connector come loose. My car was idling rough and the SES light was flashing. I though I really screwed the motor up or something. I looked under the hood and one of the injector plugs wiggled loose. So check the engine and make sure all plugs are on tight. Another thing you could try is to diconnect your IAC and see if that helps it Idle. If it Idles better, than it could be that your IAC motor has gone bad. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Re: flashing SES light
Alright. Plugs/wire are good. Pulled the valve covers and no broken valvesprings. All the injectors are plugged in and I ran two things of fuel injector cleaner through it. Now my SES light is on all the time and it only has the sputtering to 3,000 rpms at random. I still need to swap out the IAC motor. Could it be that simple? Any other suggestions I could try?

Re: flashing SES light
The way to test the IAC is to monitor it with A-Tap (or other scan tool). Note the baseline idle air count. Should be 10-40 counts at idle. Now snap the throttle to 3,500rpm and let it come back to idle. Repeat this process a few times.
Each time the IAC should come back to within 5-10 counts of that baseline count.
If it does this, your IAC is fine. If not, then look into your IAC.
Without the actual code though, I can't give you the exact steps to troubleshoot this.
