Default Long tubes Catless y-pipe, stock cat back?

Just curious if anyone has done it, how does it sound, and how badly choked will it be?

Also could someone suggest a quiet exhaust, and where I could get it, also something that would allow me to re-install the manifolds, and cats if I needed to.

I've heard of folks pushing 400ish rwhp through the stock catback. Not to say it flows that well, because the same getup would net more power with something aftermarket.

I may sound stupid with this, but try a catted dual setup out the back with Magnaflow or Borla mufflers. It should be nice and tolerable at cruise, and mean and nasty at WOT.

Keep in mind that anything other than stock exhaust(from the manifolds back) on a stock engine is going to be louder. Not unbearably LoudMouth loud, but more pronounced. Magnaflow and Borla are usually the quieter catbacks.

Hooker is pretty quiet with LT's and a catted Y. Add an electric cutout and you can have loud with the flip of a switch.

You said you wanted a quiet and catted exhaust, so I would do: Hooker cat-back ($300), TSP catted-Y ($350), Pacesetter coated LT's ($350). Also, if you want to have "loud" with the flip of a switch: QTP E-cutout ($185).

It's a $1k exhaust setup. I hope this helps.

I just want something that sounds good, but is quiet. I was thinking no cats to get a cleaner sound.

No cats adds a lot of rasp, ESPECIALLY to a Loudmouth 1 catback. I say keep your cats.

Well, I had that setup on my car before I got my Magnaflow. I had macs, o-r-ypipe and a stock WS6 catback along with stage 2 heads, and a TR224 cam. If I remember correctly, I lost close to 20hp with that muffler. It was so bad that the slip connection between the ypipe and the catback kept blowing off under wot. Don't be surprised if you have a hard time keeping it connected if you are making 400+ hp.
