lucas can kill a used car,it cleans all the rust and crap quickly, you can guess what happens when rust gets into injectors.these cars are known for rusted fuel rails and fuel lines.i know of a few huge repair bills caused by using lucas in a used car.its great stuff when used from new but putting it in a used car without knowing the condition of the fuel line etc is playing with your wallet.i just read here on the forum someone with a 99 grand am stopped running after adding lucas,it loosened so much crud it jammed all the injectors.

Exclamation

I use STP injector cleaner usually. Have also used LUCAS cleaner .....I also use LUCAS Oil Additive all the time...I doubt these cleaners would cause your problem....

Pep Boys and Discount/Advance Auto Parts always have shelves full of the stuff.

I used one bottle split into 1/3rd for the gas tank, PCV and oil....worked great. No more smoke when I go WOT

there are two that i use, chevron techron and lucas.but never ever use lucas in a used car unless you are sure its fuel tank-lines-etc are not corroded or rusted.the techron is fantastic for cleaning the injectors and intake deposits without loosening any rust ib the system causing headaches.the lucas is a fantastic upper cylinder lubricant and gas mileage improver.but it will remove loosen up all the rust and corroision.in todays cars that use part ethanol fuel after a few years of use you are going to see some corrosion in the system because ethanol is am oxygen carrying fuel.i guess you could start off useing small amounts of lucas, like 1oz per 20 gals then see what happens.but not in my used car!i've seen what can happen,it can really beat your wallet up!

So right before changing injectors would it be a good idea to clean the rust out of the lines? Should I use lucas then?

What about some injector cleaner from NAPA. I read where you hook up this can to your fuel rail and take out the fuse for the fuel pump and run the engine. Has anyone heard of this, does it work?

Don't you mean BG44K?

That's what I use. Real good stuff. I put a can in my tank every oil change.

I had an old busted *** chevy truck when I was younger. Ran ok, but alot of miles. Put a bottle of RXP in it and it came ALIVE. I worked @ Autozone and I had tried alot of diff. cleaners and boosters, but nothing worked like that tiny bottle of RXP. That is all I will use, personally.
