Default Trany swap

I have two questions. I just got a new computer from GM and i was wandering if you have to have the dealer load the original settings first or can i just down load the program i want to without any problems. Also i have a 4l60e trany and i was planing on swaping it out for a 4l80e trany, will the computer run ok with a different trany or do i have to load a different program for the bigger trany. thanks sean

You need to have the dealer re-flash the PCM first.

The PCM needs a crank relearn to be done prior to being used in your car. Without it the car will barely run.

After this is done, then you can flash your program to the computer.

You are going to have to ensure that the tranny will properly communicate with the PCM first, then you will have to change your shiftpoints to coincide with the different gearing of the tranny.

Good Luck,
Kevin

How do you properly check it for comunication. Or is it more of a hit and miss deal with the transmission electronics. Thanks
