Default Still learning, and confused

i just have a question for some LS1 experts here. I am wondering what would be best to make an LS1 the fastest street legally possible but keeping it reliable and long lasting. At first i thought maybe to do some bolt ons and add a supercharger but from reading on this site a lot of people do more all motor work. i've asked a couple "experts" on other forums and its mixed responses, probably what i will get on here anyway but i might as well try and probably get flamed

Well, like I tell my old man "legal" is a very subjective term

There are a lot of ways to go. The site is full of information, just search through the External section for boltons, Internals for cams, etc. You'll pick up on it!

oh, and welcome!

the key to making a motor last is "doing it right." nearly any setup can be perfectly reliable if done correctly. cutting corners and doing things cheaply is what gets people in trouble. just remember that. if youre gonna get a supercharger, id recommend forged internals to be safe. but there are a lot of guys on here that have what some people would consider radical stuff that is perfectly reliable in daily driving.

Yep, bolt ons and the right heads/cam setup or simply just a cam WILL get you to your desired results, it justs depends on what road you want to take.

For longevity of everything FI is your best bet, you could do full bolt ons, a LS6 cam (very mild) and a vortech 8-10psi and you'd be set, stock like idle/daily driving, but lay into it and hold on. Of course you'll AT least need a Pan hard rod, LCA's, SFC's, built tranny to support it. That is all the minimal stuff. If your hitting the track 12bolt, TQ arm, airbag, and it goes on and on.

MONEY and lots of it

No seriously, how fast is fast. Do you just want faster or are you after some sort of record.

One option, take a stock Fbody add a catback and a blower. ~460rwhp all day any day. But it's not the cheapest option, but it is more power than nearly all the n/a setups make.

Another option, all bolt ons and a cam and have ~400rwhp +- 20rwhp

But the more power you have the more mods you need to keep it all togehter such as rear end, suspension and brakes.

You can easily blow 15k on mods and have a real nice setup, but if the motor or tranny blow then it's gonna cost more.
