Default My Car is nuts.....help.

2 weekends ago I was heading to the track. I put my skinnes on and nittos in the back. On the way to the track one of the nittos has a blow out. I go back home and put the street tires on the back.

half way to my friends house, the ABS inop, TCS off, Service Vehice (not the SES light), Air Bag lights come on. The tach, water temp and fuel guage no longer worked. After i drop my friend off, and head home the lights go out and everything goes back to normal.

Last weekend I drive to the track with skinnes on front, and street tires. I put my Hoosiers (26") on at the track and race. I put the street tires back on and drive home. A few days later the lights come back on and the guages go out.

Last night on the way to a shop, the lights are still on.... I get to the shop and then the car won't idle.

Today I drive to the dealership to get a crank bolt and lugnuts (so i can put all my street tires on. 1/2 of them are stripped). and it still stalls at a stop.

I'm way out of warrenty (84,000 miles)

Any Ideas??

I struggled with problems like that for months in my '85 IROC-Z Camaro. It turned out to be a cracked circuit board trace in the instrument cluster module. The cracked trace was the main ground for the instrument cluster and make/brake the conection just from vibration.

Lee, did you put a cam in that thing or something??

The lights could be from a loose ground or hot power connection. Check the 12volt red termnail on the drivers side up front by lid. Mine came loose one time and everytime I hit a bump lights came on and the car would cut off and on

as for the car stalling?? I dont have a clue? Could be bad 02's or anything there... have you read any of the SES lights??

PCM is toast.

Water somehow got into the pins and corroded them.

Car won't start now.

Taking it to dealership tomorrow.

Someone doesn't want me in the 11s.

oh well. it can be fixed.

Sure sounds like a wiring issue to me - at least a burned, frayed, or broken wire. Probably either a hot or ground wire. I've had a loose ground wire (in an old truck) wreak all kinds of havoc. A stuck starter (starter gear stuck to the flywheel, not disengaging) also caused all sorts of electrical weirdness in another car I had.

I run skinnies up front, 26.5" tall tires in the back, daily driving, no issues at all. It's not the skinnies. I got an ABS Inop when I put 28" ET Drags on the back, but that light went away eventually.

Good luck. Get ready for

I'm a mechanic for a VW dealer, I know these are 2 completely different car lines but, when I've seen things like this-it's usually a bad/loose battery ground. Hope it's something as easy as this, good luck.

I have the same problem with my drag tires. They are tall tires in relation to what the PCM is programmed for. The engine rpm and speed sensed at the abs rings do not match what the computer is looking for causing the abs system to shut down. It's noting to worry about the lights go out after you shut off the car for a while and turn it back on right? If so don't worry about it.
