Default ASM headers

I bout some asm mid length headers for the Lt1 and they don't seem to fit. One side is hitting the K member and the other side is hitting the the drive shaft. Any ideas?

What kind of shape are your motor mounts in? Some poly mounts might square things up. Either that, or some plate metal for shimming the motor mounts.

The same thing happened to me and supposedly they sent me AS&M's for a 93 or something and mines a 95... So I sent them back and they sent me the correct pair.

My bad it is hitting the steering shaft. The ASM headers will not fit. Tried everything and still about 1 to 1/12 inches off. Going with BBK shorty's so it will fit for sure I hope. Thanks for all the input

I had the exact same problems with my RK-sport headers (same as ASM). The previous post is correct, you need new motor mounts. Don't give up on the ASMs, just replace the motor mounts (before you install the headers) and you should be just fine. My set up leaves aboyt 1/8 inch between the primary and the drive shaft, and the same between the crossmember and primary in the passenger side. keep the ASMs, much better quality than the BBKs, plus the ASMs are 1.75" and the BBKs are only 1.5".

Put a floor jack (with a big block of wood on it) under the oil pan. Jack up on it just enough to see the motor lift a bit (1/8 - 1/4 inch). This would simulate the new motor mounts, you should see that there is room for the ASMs, but it is quite tight.

Also, put a clamp arount the #1 primary slip-fit, you can fab a 1.75" clamp from a 3" torca band clamp, available from www.verociousmotorsports.com for about $10.00

pm me if you have questions
good luck!
