Who is using the Mcloud steel SFI bellhousing??

Default Who is using the Mcloud steel SFI bellhousing??

I saw Fireball's thread about the bellhousing, but I want to know how many others are using it. Any issues with fitment or any other problems?

I am likely going to get one and put it in with the Textralia.

I am. My lessons learned:

-die grinder to flatten oil pan ribs and clearance the starter (I didn't grind on the bellhousing hole, I chose to grind on the starter)

-the bolts that come with the kit (at least mine) weren't metric - your block is metric - I ordered metric allen head bolts from http://www.mcmaster-carr.com (box of 25, so if you need some, I have some left over)

Other than the grinding and the bolts, no problem. I'm running Grot headers and had no issues with those.

same here i got the wrong bolts and i had to grind the oil pan down for the motor plate to fit.

running Kooks 1 7/8 x 2 step headers with no clearance issue.
i also know the the FLP headers fit with no issues.

Here's the part number and description that I ordered:

91290A520
Metric Class 12.9 Alloy Socket Head Cap Screw M10 Thread, 25mm Length, 1.5mm Pitch, Packs of 25

I went with the 25mm length because I had to helicoil 2 of the holes (more below). The helicoils that I got were about 20mm in length (maybe slightly longer). I could have used a longer bolt (30mm?) if I had not had to do that.

The reason I had to helicoil was that I started using the bolts that came with the kit. They went in OK. But as I started to torque them down, they felt funny. And then one bolt stripped out, and another seriously boogered the hole. So I bought a helicoil setup (also from McMaster-Carr) for the M10x1.5 bolts, and took care of it.

I'd wait and get the bellhousing before you order new bolts. Compare the allen head bolt that comes with the kit to the thread on a stock bolt that you pull out. If they're identical (lay groove-to-groove), then you're fine. If they don't, then you need the new bolts.

Or if you're like me, and need helicoils, here's the helicoil part numbers...

Ouch. And dropping the front K-member to be able to get a drill at the block is not much fun either.
