Default opinions/facts transmissons

Looking for a little insight. I am putting together a 99 T/A right now. It will be an everyday driver and will make around 625 flywheel hp. 402 ".

What have you guys had the best luck with for trans and converters. I was looking at the deal Yank has on their site with their trans partners.

I do not wand to sacrifice OD but I do not want to break either. Should I just work with the trans I have?? I want something that is just a bolt in replacement. It is mainly a everyday project car for testing our current and new products. I may spray the car real light, but no blower or turbo in the plans.

Thanks,

Cary

with a little spray, you will be on the edge of a 4l60e. Have you considered a 4l80e swap?

Don't you need to have the PCM reprogrammed?

Yes the pcm would have to be reprogramed. The 4l80 solenoids fire in a different order.

Carey there are many upgrades to a 4l60-e that can be done to accomodate that kind of power. a 4l80-e conversion is stout but with the price and extreme additional weight you have to think about it. I have recently built a 2000 silverado with a 370ci 6.0 and I have fabed up my own turbo kit for it . It is at speed inc. getting tuned right now and I am expecting 650rwhp, I have used a yank 3600ss converter GM 5 pinion front and rear planets beast sunshell billet 4th servo corvette 2nd servo sleeved input shaft transgo hd2 2 5/8" wide 2-4 band special 3-4 pack all new bushings and borg warner plates as well as many other mods. You would also want to consider switching to vacum modulation If at all possible I would like to get something together for you. I am going to be purchacing a set of your 240's for my z06 from A and A Corvette maybe we can work together thanks Mason Smith

Cary, dont even sweat the 4L60E. It may last, no offense there Mason, but not as daily driven, raced, dyno'd frequently R&D type car, thats just asking too much IMHO. I think you'd be wasting your money by putting anything into the 4L60E if the powerplant is more than stock. Either spend the extra $ for the 4L80E, or dump the OD and get with the old skool TH350/400. Sorry, been through a couple trans, and swapped out a few others for the same reasons, too much power = trans abuse.

Charlie
