Default should I get rid of the AIR and EGR?

I know that by removing the AIR and EGR, it cleans up the engine bay a bit, but can my car still pass emissions? Also, I have a set of LT headers and LSX intake made for EGR, is there a blockoff plat I buy?

Depends if your area does the OBD2 test (checking for codes) or a sniffer/visual, if it's a sniffer/visual, you'll fail, but if it's the OBD2 test (where they just plug into your computer) with the proper tune, you'll pass

If it's the sniffer it won't matter actually. (egr, air) The air pump only injects air when the engine coolant is below 130 degrees. It's meant to light off the cats sooner. I doubt you'll be at a smog station right after you start the car in the morning.

The egr has no noticable effect on exhaust emmissions, in fact the '01+ cars don't even have the egr! If you remove the items and it throws codes anyone with LS1edit or hptuners can dissable the codes.

Delete the crap it will make the engine bay less cluttered. Hell I got rid of the pcv system too and with a huge cam rumbling it's *** off I just passed Atlanta emmissions. The visual inspections only refer to catalytic convertor inspections-nothing else. You can put "clamshells" on the off- road pipe and the inspector wont know the difference, unless they put it on the roller w/o cats.

Atlanta does OBDII code test only for emmissions.

If you don't have blockoffs, you can buy from a sponsor===>
or you can cut the ends off from the old factory egr tubes and weld the holes closed, bolt them up to the headers. Solved.

It also activates to heat up the oxidizing section of the cat, at any temp so the cat can burn the unburned portion of the exhaust gases. Lowering the amount of CO and HCs that get past the cat

Sorry but you're wrong, EGR helps lower the production of NOx, by cooling off the combustion temps, and the reason the 01+ doesn't have an EGR valve, is because the cam is designed with enough overlap that it functions just like an external EGR valve

It doesn't really matter since atlanta does the OBD2 test, as long as the computer has no codes, you're good to go

Seems like a good tune and any cam with more overlap would solve both of those.

Bumping this topic. I'm going to run Pacesetter LT's, kooks ORY, and flowmaster catback. Since I'm running no cats anyways, i might as well get rid of the air and egr too. So what all do I need and where can I get it?
I need 02 extensions, and then a way to cap off the egr and air on the headers. Now do I need a delete idler pulley, or what for the egr and air?

Speed Inc. is where I got mine. Look in the exhaust section I believe at the bottom. They sell a whole kit to do just what your looking for. Its like 15 bucks or so.

You will need the EGR and AIR Block-off plates. I bought mine from Pace Parts and they were ~$20. There is no pulley to delete. Neither use the accessory belts for operation. The AIR runs of a pump located below the driver side headlight. Just remove it and all of the associated hoses. The EGR is an electrical valve that can be removed. You will need the 1 3/8" freeze plug to block off the inlet to the intake. That is, if you are still running the LS1 intake vs the LS6 intake. Then, install the block-off plates on the headers. After that, the associated DTC will need disabled for both systems to avoid the SES light.

Or do i need them for the intake as well? Could someone tell me exactly what i need and is there a possibility i wont throw a code?

just cut off the ends to the factory EGR and AIR tubes and weld them shut. Then for the intake manifold get a 1 3/8 freeze plug from Advance Auto. That it all you will need. Total cost $3.00 I threw a code when I did mine.
