Default Trunk latch isn't opening right

I am having trunk latch problems. IT is weird. I know the keyfob takes two pushes to get the trunk to pop. Well, now, It makes me hit is twice for the trunk to pop up just a little bit. Then i have to push it again twice while giving upwards force on the spoiler or hatch. It gets to be a problem when other people have to open the trunk or the car is running and you want to pop it. (Turns into a two person job, one to hit button, one to push upwards.)

Anyone ever have this problem and how did you fix it?

www.installuniversity.com has an article on how to fix it, I think you add a spring to the latch. My car does it too, pretty common. I need to fix it soon.

piggyback a 2 1/2 inch long 5/8 spring onto the factory spring on the latch mechanism....problem solved.

Sweet, I was thinking about doing that myself, nice to know what size works though so I dont have to trial and error.

i just piggy backed that exact spring on mine, still didn't fix it. it pops up like 1" or so and falls back down. wonder if the struts on the hatch are go'n bad? maybe they are too weak.
