Default What are the limits of ls1edit horsepower wise?

I was wondering when we would need to start looking elsewhere for programming.. 800rwhp?

I don't think there is a limit.

Nitrous.... the skies the limit

Naturally Aspirated.....Around the mid 600's because of rpm limitations

Forced Induction....It gets pretty hairy around 700 hp, but I dont' think we have hit a limit yet, it just requires some external gizmos.

The only substantial limit on the PCM is the rpm limiter. FI presents the MAF / PCM Flow limit, but you can get around that with some frequency tricks (it just depends how much you want to molest the PCM programming).

How much would the PCM be "molested" (umm that didn't sound right) for that kind of a goal?

Sure, it's not a problem, it is just a matter of altering the incoming MAF frequency and getting the right gizmo to do it.

Once you alter the incoming MAF frequency, you then alter all pertaining PCM tables by the same factor that you have adjusted the MAF fequency by.

Your PCM basically becomes molested because very few people have a chance of properly editing your PCM once this is done because all of the tables are out of whack (multiplied, or shifted according to the "factor").

Can I get an example of what can molest the pcm?

Personally, if I were building a FI motor of 'higher caliber', I'd invest in an aftermarket computer. Two reasons: multi-bar MAP support, and wideband O2 sensor compatibility. Those are two things that our PCMs will never have (ooh, I said the 'n' word ).

There are guys running 9's on factory computers. How much faster ya need to go?

The factory pcm has support for 2 bar mapping , we regularly discard the maf on any of our head/cam combo's here down under.
2 bar mapping of supercharged stuff is also avaliable on our LS1's using the same PCM ( we have rewritten some of the code though to allow this)
Have a couple of 600+ rwhp street cars running around with under 10 lb of boost both positive displacment and cetrafugal chargers.

No limit as far as I can see - just keep making horespower.
