Default wtb: 98-02 ls1 f-body (graduation gift)

well graduation is near, and the buick's radiator has gone out, and seeing as the blue book is $1000, and we've already spent $800 worth of repair, all we are doing is replace the shot thermo, jsut so i can make it to school and back home. I am looking for a 98-02 ls1 f-body for under $10,000 also w/under 50000 miles if possible. i know thats a strech, but my parents are teachers and $10000 is an incredible strech for us, taking most of our budget for the last 6 months and the next year. i need low milage cause im gonna have to drive it to school which wont be close cause i cant afford dorms, and i also cant afford a DD. time of purchase will be in may right before graduation, but we will decide on the car way before that. my parents just want to wait to make sure i graduate lol. there are a few preferences i have:

t-tops (a must)
preferably an m-6 (i know thats pushing it, so i'll be happy w/an auto)
leather seats
power windows, locks, keyless entry, power seats, and monsoon sound system
the only color i wont do is white, and i dont want a camaro in nbm. or that green color. if anyone could help me out, if anyone knows of a car for sale, i would be very, very appreciative.

thanks,
-Nate

May is a bad time to buy, b/c everyone is selling their sports cars for the summer cruising season. If you wait until the end of summer you can find killer deals. But if you need it in may, then I suggest being very patient and picky b/c there will be many cars for sale and expect more like 80k miles for that price. Don't be scared of high milage, just make sure that it hasn't been modded heavily. and that regular maintanence has been done to it.

I bought my TA w/ 103k miles on the clock, and 20k later it is still running like a champ. Be picky, and especially don't get to excited about buying a car, being able to walk away from a deal at any moment is a powerful negotiating tool.

Good Luck

Josh

Oh yes.....

When I buy a car, I look for what I want, but I ALWAYS keep in mind that NO car is one of a kind (in my price range, anyway...)

well more like around 50k, and less than 60k. im not scared of high mileage, its just that im gonna be putting a lot on this car and i dont want to have over 100,000 miles a year after purchase. plus i'll be putting a cam and turbo in it eventually, and i dont wanna do that on a high mileage car

damn, if you can afford a cam and turbo + maintence, it seems like you could go a little higher than 10 K .. because setups like that are risky no matter how many miles are on it. LS1s can live for a long time if they are not abused. good luck on finding a car like that. im not saying they aren't around.. just saying it might have some flaws if you come up on a 50K mile LS1 for 10K, and most likely be a base model so more than likely no t-tops or leather or stereo. i would suggest you either raise your price range or expect higher mileage.

I have a white 99 z28 with 34k original miles, no wrecks, clean car fax, power everything, t-tops, monsoon, everything but leather. I wouldn't sell it for less than $10.5, if I even decide to sell it. I bought it 6 months ago from a dealership for $11,500

thats not a bad price for a dealership. i dont even bother looking there because private party value is always less than dealership value. i dont know why, thats just what kbb says
