3:42-3:73 are nice and fine for daily use even on the highway.

i had 3.73s in my car when it was auto its prolly the best you can do if you dont want gas mileage to go down the ******* that and 3rd gear tops out right at 100 mph or at least mine did

My MPG went down maybe 1 with the swap of 3.23 to 4.10s. Its all about how you drive. Spinning 3k at 75 on the interstate.

4.10's are fine in an auto for highway MPG. As stated, it matters how you drive it. Some people think 4.10's kill the 10 bolt, and give terrible gas mileage, but it just depends on how you drive it.

I don't care about top speed, honestly.

I would also recommend 3.42 or 3.73 gears. If your car isn't going to see the strip much, you'll probably be better off with 3.42's due to how well mannered they are. 3.73's will see better gains in the 1/4, but will hurt gas mileage a little more than 3.42's. I wouldn't recommend 4.10's unless you plan on turning it into an allout drag car.

My 3.73's give me horrible gas mileage, I could not even imagine 4.10's.. I love the performance though.

I had 4.10s in my '94 T/A, automatic. Spun 2500 at 65mph. Didn't really affect gas mileage. I'd get them again.

I plan on going higher in my new 6-speed.

As said, depends on your driving habits. If you never go higher than 65, they are not that bad. On the other hand if you go 85, it will be turning around 3200 and gas mileage will be a lot worse.

Get the 3.73's! I've got 3.73's on my 95 a4 TA. I was contemplating getting 3.42's and am much happier that I got the 3.73's. My gas mileage actually improved about 1 to 2 mpg over the 2.73's it had in it. Most of my driving is city and occasional highway. If I would have went 3.42's I think I would not have been as happy about the change.

Yeah, but the speed limit is 65 or 70 in most states

Plus LT1s get much better gas mileage at 65 than they do at 85 no matter what your gearing is. I'm actually really enjoying the 3.42s in my M6, nice to cruise at 65 at 1600 RPM. But the 4.10s will come very shortly - if I don't go with a shorter gear that is.

Yes but not really in some cities.
