Default 383 Guys

Hey guys,

A friend of mine is doing a big $$ 383 build. Lunati rotating assy, Big 220 AFR's, some real big custom cam. Victor E intake, ect, ect... This thing is supposed to be pretty sick, however he is having problems deciding what headers too run. He currently has Dynatec Race 1 3/4 Long Tubes. He said he wanted something steped like 1 3/4 off the head then up to a 2" before the collector.

What size are you guys running?

Im just running 1 3/4 Kooks LTs but my setup is nowhere as extreme as his. I know Kooks makes 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8. I have never seen 1 3/4 stepped to 2 though. Thats pretty big.

Im running a set of longtube Flowtech 1 5/8 i think ceramic coated. Work good. Ohh and be sure to let your friend know that 383's need a decent pan and windage system .. a crank scraper would be the best way to go.. im feeling it now.. dont want anyone else to go through it. I loose oil pressure on hard cornering or HARD decel. not all the way to 0 but like 10 - 25 ad it normaly has 45 to 50

yeah hes got a nice race pan, can't remember the brand. This thing is sweet, he hasn't cut any corners and has really spared no expense. He's just trying to figure out the header thing

He could always have someone custom build a set of 2" or 1-7/8 stepped to 2". Not cheap, but definitely doable...

Tell him to get a set of HEDDMAN 1 7/8th long tubes. My set up is a little more extreme and they work fine.
