Default back pressure?

i have the slp lm exhaust and i'm looking to get pacesetter lt's and ory. i know ls1's need a certain amount of back pressure and was wondering if i was going to get enough with the lt's and ory. if any of you guys have this setup let me know how it worked for you, thanks.

NO! BACK PRESSURE IS BAD. Exhaust gas veolcity is good. That's why a 4" exhaust doesn't make more power than a 3". However, that setup may be too loud with the SLP LM.

The longtubes and o/r y will be a good thing from a backpressure stand point. I just helped a friend install hooker longtubes and o/r y in front of his dynomouth setup. IMO, it is WAY too loud!! It just screams "PLEASE PULL ME OVER" LOL!

well i'm not totally concerned with being too loud. i don't ever have people in my car. my only concern is performance. i was just worried about if i needed enought back pressure

Not really. You won't lose much performance though, and IMHO it would be well worth it. High flow cats and/or a Magnaflow/hooker catback, etc. would help alot.

would you go with a magnaflow muffler instead the the slp "nothing at all" muffler. i know you can just insert it in the existing system "magnamouth?"

Personally, just get a good catted Y pipe. It shouldn't really affect performance, will make it sound better as well as better db level and will keep you legal, so it'll be easy to pass emissions.

Also I'd recommend reading the sticky's in this forum, it will give you an insight into exhaust systems. From a performance stand point back pressure is always bad.

That would probably help some. Personally I like the sound of the Borla XR-1 a little better than the Magnaflow, and would probably try that one. I also like the sound better with cats and would use them myself, but a muffler in the I-pipe should help some.

Rasp sucks. The cheap way to get rid of it is to get cats. Expensive way is iron block.

Here is mine. Check it out. I also feel the LS1 runs better with a little back pressure...high flow cats would be plenty. As far as it being too loud There is no such thing!

Zeus, I am curious to find out how good your system works without the H or X in the equation. Looks freaking clean though man!

I love it. When you really understand the principals behind the H or X pipe, you come to realize that it is not necessary in all true-dual setups. It would help in some set-ups, and not in others.

ummm not too sure about the iron block comment. Most engine's now adays are aluminium and rasp isn't an issue across all powerplants.

And besides the Jaguar V12 was aluminium and it was designed in the 50's, also the Rover V8 which is derived from the Buick 215ci. Buick ceased production in the 50's and it was aluminium but TVR's don't suffer rasp.

Not heard that before and it does controdict what I've read in the past, but hay maybe I've missed something.

Would you mind expanding on 'what' setups [u]do[/]u and don't benefit from a mid pipe and explaining what the differences are between them, cheers
