Default A4 highway difference between 3.42 and 3.73?

right now in my stock 10 bolt i have 3.73 gears and a 3400 stall(A4). ill be getting a 12 bolt in the future and im wondering if i shoudl switch to 3.42's. reason being...i dont really like crusing at 3000 rpm's when im going 80 mph. its kind of annoying with the loud whining of the rear end. what kind of rpms do you think i will be at with 3.42s at 80 mph(OD of course). i have a 408 stroker cammed with headers, all bolt on mods ,etc. so im not too worried about losing performance. will the 3.42's work fine with 3400 stall 2.2 str?

3.42's will put you at about 2500rpm @ 80mph. First gear will still be rowdy with your converter, but the combo will be tight and feel good around town like your 3.73's do now.

when i did 3.23 -3.73 it was about 400 rpm difference on the highway so 3.42-3.73 i'd say maybe 350 rpms difference

thanks for the calculator it tells me 2700 at 81 mph with 3.42 and 2900 rpm at 81 with 3.73...so not that significant of a difference. but ill probably switch to 3.42 anyway for the comfort of the ride

If you're going to be getting a 12 bolt, id just save the money and wait till then to get the 12 bolt set up you want, unless uve got some money to burn or the 12 bolt isnt that close.
