The only differences in the formula and the TA is the body style. The formula looks like a v6 firebird but has an ls1. The TA looks like a ws6 without the hood, wheels, embelms, etc. As far as performance theyre about equal. The formula is eligidly a little lighter. But not really enough to notice. People make a bigger deal about it than it is. There are NO changes on the engine from 98-02. The ws6 changed intakes in 2001 to the ls6 where 2000 models and older have the base ls1 intake. Theyre all fairly close. I just say buy the one you think looks the best! Good Luck

why do you keep referring to the ws6 as a totally different model? its a hood, some light suspension, slightly less restrictive exhaust, and wheels. not just the ws6, all LS1's in 01 they changed intakes and exhaust manifolds. and there is some stuff like injectors being a couple pounds bigger, but nothing big. cam specs are also different in 01 and 02. but the main difference is the intake. the only difference between a t/a and a formula is the front bumper and spoiler pretty much. you could order a formula "stripped" where all t/a's in 98-02 had ttops (if they werent convertible) and leather. everything was power as well on the t/a's. a formy could be had in cloth and non power options. it also could be had in a hard top. theres no drastic difference though. hope that helps.

yup, swang pretty much said the jest of it. the formula is a firebird body style with an LS1 in it, and the WS6, basically the biggest differences are the LS6 intake and the ram air. and hood.

some 01 and all 02 also have the Z06 upgraded hydrolics and clutch, also on the WS6(not sure about the SS) the air box is ramped up higher and has a bigger air inlet under the lid.

The airbox height on the SS is the same as all other LS1 f-bods except for the WS6, it was the only one to have the rasied airbox.
