Default HELP!!! porting intake manifold to match throttle body

ok so i got a stock throttle body for lt1 ported to 54mm, do i need to port out the intake manifold holes as well? (im assuming yes) how do i go about doing that, do i need to take the hole thing off cause im sure there cant be a bunch of debris in the manifold. any help or special instructions are appreciated.

EDIT (Thanks WhiteLightning) stock is 48 not 52mm (was thinking of how the LT4 intake comes), would be slightly different but not worth the effort. Were you just saving $$ doing a 54 vs 58?

Scribe the lines from the rear of the tb onto the intake while they are both bolted to the car. I would remove my intake if I were you and port it with a dremel. not necessary to port it but you probably won't see any gain unless you do it.

depends on what he's talking about, stock throttle body is 48, but the size of the holes are 52

what i did to get my 58 to work was stick the gasket on the intake, mark it so you know what to remove, then go to town with a dremel.

Believe it or not, the TB change will not give you **** on a Stock LT1. There are 500ci, 500hp Chevy crate engines with 48mm stock LT1 TB's on them. I have seen before and after Dynos on a TB change, and 1hp was the gain. 1hp for $300, bad investment. Don't waste the cash....

Your engine is not stock, different heads and cam according to your siganture....

We put a 48, 52,and 58mm on a stock LT1, and gained 1hp on the dyno. Bad investment on a stock motor.
