What spacing should we set these to maximiaze performance? And are NGK TR55's really that much better than other stock AC Delco plugs?

I have had 2 sets of tr55's in my car and both sets had crappy idle, I switched this time to the AC Delco Iridium to see if they make a difference so far so good, but it has only been a couple of days still need more drive time on them to know for sure.
