Default Do LS1s burn synthetic more than conventional??

Hey guys, just as the title says, will it burn synthetic oil more than conventional oil? This is my first time running synthetic, its due for a change in about 1000 miles... I checked my oil today and it was pretty low, my car never consumed oil when I was still running conventional, so what gives?

BTW I am running Mobile One 10W-30

I used to run Quaker State High Mileage Formula 10W-40

did u just switch to synthetic?? ive read that as engines get older things become loser and synthetic slips by parts easier cause it is so slick...so that could be something to think of

My car never showed a difference. The harder I drove it the more oil it burned. Usually 1.5-2qts per 3,000 miles.

I did just switch to synthetic , but I also have just taken the winter tires off recently meaning I have been driving it alot harder. Maybe its the combination of the two

My old motor never did burn more than half a quart every 3000 miles. However, this new one is gulping down a quart every 2k.

no matter wat oil u use i dont care, if u always hit the gas or drive like an ******* like me its always gonna burn some amount of it, depending on how hard u always hit the gas. i use valvoline 10w30 tough forumla ****, and it burns it, im always hitting the gas hard and downshifting rough so the rpms are always up...

You're comparing two different viscosities here though, and I'll tell you right now that the thicker viscosity of the conventional oil you ran was the reason why you consumed less oil!

Switch to a synthetic 10w40 or 5w40 and you'll consume less oil than you do with M1 10w30.

I drive my car pretty damn hard. Taking it to redline at least a few times a day, etc.

Mobil 1 synthetic 0w-40 mixed with 5w-30 and I can go over 4000 miles and not lose a drop. I think the viscosity of the oil and the varying engine tolerances have a lot to do with oil issues. Not to mention I still feel an overlooked issue with our cars is the loose fit of the lid and air filters not being noticed on many cars letting in contaminents in to the engine.

Until I joined this forum I always used M1 5W-30 in all my cars. My Z would lose about a qt every 2k miles. I then joined this forum and switched to the German Castrol Syntec 0W-30 and even after 4k miles I do not seem to lose any oil at all.

I was glad to hear you say that as I just switched my truck over to gold GC and will be putting it in the Camaro also. I have a nice stash of green GC for the Camaro!

my experiance has been using 5-30 the ls1 drinks it at about 1 qt every 1=2k miles.if i use 10-40 or 15-40 it uses very little.i think it runs better and has better fuel mileage using the lighter oil.

I've used only M1 5w-30, and lately it hasn't burned it up at all. However, my intake manifold had a HUGE coating of oil on it.
