Default Tube that comes off the airbox

What function does the tube that comes off the airbox have? You know the one where if you install a lid you have to put a breather filter on? Thanks

It provides air to the cats on startup while the air pump is running.

And if there is no air being sucked in, what kinda symptoms would that cause?

Nothing at all. You can remove the air pump.

well the car is having trouble idling at start up...It stumbles down to around 300 rpms, then levels out.....Then when I give it some gas, the revs come down, but instead of holding around 800-1000, then drop down below 500, and the car almost stalls out......

Im scheduling a tune up soon, but its driving me nuts not being able to figure this out

I'm no expert, but there could be some issues with just removing the air pump. At the very least there may be some other "adjustments" to make. I found this thread:
