Default what the difference between loose and tight tc?

What the difference between a loose converter and a tight one and whats the benefits of the two?

A loose converter will have a higher stall speed. In other words, it will take more rpm's to get the car moving. Basically it is a less efficient converter. The benefit is that you get into your power band quicker, so it will reduce your 1/4 mile times. A tighter converter is the opposite, and it's main adavantage is fuel economy, but with the 4l60e trans you still have lockup, so the fuel mileage will still be the same cruising at highway speeds with a looser converter. You will also have less heat with a tight converter, which kills transmissions. This is a very simple explanation. Hope it helps.

str has alot to do with looseness, the higher the str, the tighter

And that also depends on what RPM range that STR is "active". Outside that RPM range the STR does nothing. Usually though the manufacturer doesn't tell you this part, but Yank does.

Actually, it's a combination of both. A 3500/1.6 will feel looser than a 4000/2.7.
