Default open headers

I am gonna have to run open headers for about a week (since I sold my mid-pipes before I got new ones)...

What do I do about the rear O2 sensors? Do I unplug them completely and store them somewhere?

Or do I leave them connected and tape them to he body so they can still get some sort of a reading?

Please let me know ASAP since I have to take my mid-pipes of in a few mins.

Thanks!

Do you have a way to tune out the rear o2's (hptuner,ls1edit)?? The car will run like **** with the rear o2's unpluged. You could go get 2 pipes to slide over the collectors and weld in bungs for them.

The car won't run like **** with the rear o2's unplugged. All they do is tell the computer whether or not your cats are working. Unplugging them will turn on the SES light, but it'll run fine. Now if you unhooked your FRONT o2's, then you'd have some problems. If you have to run open headers for a week, I'd definitely put some extensions on the headers to protect your front o2's from getting damaged.

the car will run PERFECT with the rear O2s unplugged... except the little amber light will be on...

the car will run fail-safe rich with the FRONT o2s unplugged.... then it idles and overall feels like ****.

front O2s are for fueling
rear O2s are for ODBII emissions compliance... (to check that the cats are working)

My front o2 sensors are tucked in there pretty well..

Think extensins are really necessary?

Only 1 week and short distances... No driving in the rain...

I drove mine once with open headers for about 25 miles. After 20 miles or so the front O2's started to get pissed and I got a flashing SES and the car was running very poorly. The rear O2's were already deleted at this time.

I was in the same situation, I am running open headers waiting for my buddies shop to do my TD over the axle setup. I did and would suggest to permenatly !rear 02's and just unplug the fronts untill you get the rest done (i didn't want to chance burning up my front o2's $$). Car runs fine it's just loud as hell and a little slugish due to no backpressure...but soon to be fixed
