Default How much do you think my car is worth?

Considering that it has under 47K miles and it was *never* drag raced, how much do you think my car is worth today?

Check mods and specs here

Hard to say... you'll be dealing with blue book plus a little to the right buyer. One thing is for certain though... 450 hp ALWAYS sells for 1-2K more than only 447 hp

Unfortunately what a car is worth and what it might sell for are usually not that close. To the right person, that car is worth $22-25k. To everyone else, maybe $18-20k. I have checked blue book on mine (34k miles) and it is maybe $23k - and that is "retail" value..........

Our cars are notoriously hard to sell on the normal market. It just takes time & patience and a little bit of good luck.

Why is my question?

FYI, to me, an owner saying it was never drag raced means nothing (unless I know him/her personally) because anyone can say that whether or not it is true. It wouldn't make me offer a dime more whether or not it was true. Sadly, there is no way to prove it has not been raced.

If I was buying a car from Ellis I would prefer it was one that he did drag race

LOL if you decide to sell it let me know for how much, would be funny if I ended up in another SOM. Rotty has it about right although he is optimistic on the actual value of your car at 18-20 but I could see the right person going 20-22. I bet if you tried to trade it in you'd get maybe 15.

The car is worth $30K Nick. But like everyone said, you'll probably get $20k +/- a couple grand. I have close to $60k in mine now, and I'd probably get $25+ from the right buyer. But I NEVER plan to sell it. One thing you do have that I don't is a rare car. (SOM)

I think every one has given you solid advise. The only way to get good money out of them is to have Bobby Drive it till some one see's it and just HAS to have it!

Yeah, this area is not a good one for selling these cars at a good price... if it isn't an import, or an overly large SUV, or better yet an overly large import SUV, people don't really want it.

Opps, I didn't catch that.......prolly knock another grand (minimum off what I said ) Didn't yours used to have the '02 WS6 style wheels? I know some of late model '01's came with them, that is what threw me off I think........I swear I remember your car having those '02 style wheels. Maybe not, just thought it had them at one point.

I haven't tried to sell anything up here but I know L.A. was a nightmare. When I sold my pristine 2000 WS6 (A4) it had 34k on the clock, was just about perfect, only mods were a K&N, tinted windows, HPP3 and a flowmaster muffler and I only got $15,500 for it back in May of '03. And that was after waiting 6 months and finding a guy in Delaware who wanted it. Seems like everyone in L.A. wanted to offer about $8-9k for it to see if I was desperate/lowball me and I told them all thanks but **** off. No one made a remotely decent offer on the car even though, at that time, the $16-17k I was asking was a couple grand below retail blue book.

Not surprisingly up here, with the weather the way it is , these cars would be harder to move, especially right now (time of year).

I would say to make sure you jack the price up a little bit just because it's SOM. Gotta be one of the most desirable WS6 colors out there, people are always drooling over them. You can get more money out of a SOM car than you can any other color they make.

Yeah that's what thought... I don't plan on selling it anytime soon, but I've been drooling over the new 2007 Lexus LS-460 eight speed automatic - the hybrid version will have more than 500hp with V6-like mpg. Won't be fast as the bird but oooohhhh "me like luxury" too...

You've got to start some new accounting method there, Mark. As an example... a blown stock engine deducts the amount of a replacement crate engine. To better illustrate:

New 04 H2 ..................$48,500
Blown stock engine........-$4,500.00 (price of crate engine replacement)
NEW 402......................+8,500.00
Adjusted "investment" ...$52,000

See parts sold are deducted and parts broken just "disappear"

I only count what is in the vehicle at the time. Anything else would make me crazy!!!

It wouldn't be worth selling or trading for the Lexus. You would always wish you had he 'bird back no matter how much you enjoy the luxury. But if you do sell it and start stripping parts, just remember me first.

Is hard to get what these cars are worth. I have a 02 Z28, purchased it in 2002 with 1,500 miles on it and was built 3 months before I bought it used for 18k out the door. Was really a new car fully loaded with ground effects and all the options. This was at a car dealership too.. I know the Z28's sell for less than the SS's or WS6's, but is a example... If you look on autotrader you can figure out a base price for a 01 WS6 and add a couple 1,000 on for the mods. Sometimes is harder to sell a modded car than one that isn't... I know when I went to get my Z28 they had a 01 SS sitting next to it with about 10k miles and nitrous hookups, but no bottle and the dealer said it was a high 11 second car...just because of the mods I went for the lower mileage Z28.. Now that I have had one of these cars I know more what to look for, but even with the h.p you have, I really can't see anyone paying more than 19k.. now I see C5 vettes all the time for 22- 24k with nice miles and even see z06's at times for that price.

Yeah yeah Cory, but I was only adding up what I paid for the parts, not what they'd cost the normal Joe to get. (for instance the blower kit was 1/2 price, and the 402 was on sale, and.... ) And then you can add in another $10k for the install of all that stuff. So my $60k estimate should actually be low according to fair market values.

And I'd still probably only get ~$20K!

When selling a car I don't think mods really add much value.

if you have a cam, well the car came with a cam....so you've added no value
headers....car came with exhaust manifold
swaybar....same
so on, and so on

now you add a supercharger...well it didn't come with that so it might up the value a little.

But like all have said, you have to find the right buyer to pay for it. It also depends on the bank, cause when the guy goes to get a loan, Mr. banker looks it up in his little book and says "uh, we can lend you $18k for it" It's not going to mater to the banker that it has headers and a h/c package.

Basically moding a car is wasting your money, but obviously we all do it.
