Default gauge cluster mileage

I just got a whole cluster with white face gauges inside but it has 79K on it and I don't have that many miles. Is there anyway to get it to read what I have?? I didn't even THINK of this when I bought them. Thanks

I'm not sure on a Fbody, but we had a 94 Vette and had to change the central control module and the gm dealer was able to change the milage back.

On the f-body it's in the cluster and that's that. On a 'Vette it's in the computer like 02Firehawk#614 said.

Your right but iI think I remember some one knew how to re-set it..but it has to be thru a "qualified person"...

Correct, I'm an ASE Tech...

You have to be with a dealer to have it done, your dealership can look it up in AllDATA, or Mitchell on Demand whichever system they are using. For certified odometer service centers...

I had a 97 bluster flashed with my mileage for my car, so I could run the 200MPH face. It ran me $45 plus return shipping, the place I had do mine return shipped it for me over night for $15 dollars. So $60 is what the final bill was. Most of the odometer LCD's come "locked" out of the factory so they might have to replace the display so they can set the mileage, they might not...The tech told me it depends on the cluster so they wouldn't know until it was in their hands.

Damn!! 3 Firehawks responded. Thanks bit viper too....well now I don't know what to do. I don't really want to pay all that to get it changed. I guess I'll think about it.

or u could just swap the actual odometer gauge thing from one cluster to the other. just pop off the bezel and carefully pry up on the faceplate. it wont move much as the odometer is plugged in. reach in and unplug it then put that one in the new one.

Old thread, I know... but a search pulled this up....
Does anyone know if the idea about literally swapping odometers is possible?
