RESOLVED - I'm extremely upset with Futral Motorsports
I am sure a lot of you are aware of the recent issues that have come up about a batch of their cams causing lifter and engine damage. I am not gonna get into fully, look in the Internal section if you want to know more.
As an owner of a FM14 cam, I am concerned and I e-mail FMS requesting a statement about the issue and this is what they had to say.
"There were a few cases from the begininng of last year, but I can't tell you if the cam will have a problem or not by just looking at the cam. We aren't repalcing any cam that hasen't had an issue. If the surface looks on the rough side, you can send in and we can get it polished for you.
Allan"
So pretty much I've been told that I need to destroy my brand new engine for them to give me a replacement. I think that's bull ****. I now have to pay another $350 for a new cam because of this, when I should get a brand new replacement for free or a seriously discounted price. I refuse to put the cam I have into my new engine.
I understand how business works. I also understand that it truly is impossible to tell if my cam is a defected one untill it's too late. I believe that if there is even the slightiest possiblity of their cam causing engine damage, they should replace it. No quetions asked.
I shouldn't have to buy a full priced cam again. I am extremely pissed off.

Why can't you pay $30 or so to ship your cam to them to be polished? The issue with the lifters is being cause by rough surfaces, isn't it, so sending it to them to be polished/checked out would satisfy me, and I own a Futral cam as well.

If getting the cam polished will fix the issue, then I don't have a problem at all sending them my cam. I just need assurance that polishing the cam will indeed prevent any lifter damage.

You would be whining aftering spending $5000 to get your car up and running again, and then finding out that you have a defective cam that could possibly **** your brand new engine and cause even more down time and stress.
