Default Installed 160Tstat where should my gauge be?

Its a little bellow the 210 mark. I dunno the dial/arrow/whatever is a little lower then it used to be.

When I did a 160 stat in my s10 the dial was in a completely different part of the guage.

your gauge is a dummy gauge it doesnt actually work like it should, the 98s had the only real working temp gauges so your fine.

Normal for the '99 and up gauges. Mines the same way with a 160 and low speed fans set to 184/175.

That's normal, your gauge is really nothing more than an idiot light with a needle. I believe '98 was the only year that had a real gauge, after that they all read just under 210 once they reach a certain temperature. I believe at some point it will go up in the red but I've never gotten one hot enough to do that.

If your car is not tunned for the 160 stat, your fans will not kick on until 210, so there is really no bennifit to the 160 stat.

Yep, get your fan settings tweaked. But even after that it won't translate to the gauge. If you were to do some logging on a TECH II before/after you would see the difference.

Hehe already had that covered. Met up with a local guy who tuned it with HP Tuners for me. Not sure what temp he set for the fans but he told me they will come on sooner.

Thanks for the info about my dummy gauge guys Its rainy outside so I can't really find out how well it's working.

That's where mine was before I reset my fans to come on at 185* and go off at 175*. When the engine warms up and especially when it's warm outside you lose some/all of the effect of a 160* stat if you don't change the stock fan on/off points. I can tell I run a lot cooler now, and could see the difference on the gauge.

had mine hooked up to snap on scan tools one time, doing diag. checks or something of the sort.. after sitting still running for about half an hour, my car was still at 173-5 degrees.. this is with the 160 stat and HPP3 prog for fans. but yeah, like everyone else says, the gauge will read the same as it did before..
