Default Cleaning chrome wheels

My original ZR1's on my car are dirty and I'm wanting to take them off to give them a good cleaning. I know of soap and water obviously for the outside surface, but what's a good way to clean the inside of the wheel, with all the brake dust?

simple green, SOS pad, clean it quickly, and rinse. Then wax as said before.

Soap and water usually works for me. I usually don't let them get too dirty though.
