Default losing 5th and reverse

my car popped out of 5th gear earlier today...Ever since then, it's had problems engaging in 5th and reverse. I'll have to play w/ the clutch..and even after that, it grinds like no other going into the gear. Any input as far as causation, repair costs, parts needed, etc?

Alrighty, just got back from taking a test-drive to see if it's still missing. Sure was, so I decided to use the ancient and lost technique of double-clutching and it works just fine doin that....looks like it's the synchro on that cluster. Anyone have any clue how much a new one would cost or if this is something a professional should handle or not?

I believe it should clear but it popping out of 5th sounds like a transmission issue not a clutch. Maybe the color indicates over heating of the clutch but get the transmission checkout soon.
