SS3600 + LS6 intake + ET Streets = no gain???
I went to the track last night and was running ET streets for the first time on my 98 Formula w/ a SS3600 and 3.23 (mods in sig). The ET streets are a little taller than my stock tires (maybe a +1 in size).
Anyways, I couldn't get my car to launch hard no matter what I tried. I tried brake stalling and I tried flashing, but the car wouldn't launch hard or cut a good 60. My best 60 of the night was a 1.96. The car felt like it was falling on it's face all night. The tires weren't spinning at all either. My car actually feels like it launches harder on my street tires and I can cut the same 60. What gives? Could the change in tire size affect it that much? I haven't ever tuned the car and just recently added an LS6 intake. Someone suggested that torque management could the problem and my tune could be out of wack.
The car also traps kinda low for the mods that I have (104ish) and I didn't seem to pick up any power with the LS6 intake.
Any idea's?

Have you put a real tune on the car on not that hpp3 crap?

My car is untuned and I have a camshaft along with my converter and headers. I need a tune baaaad also. But I am cutting good low 1.6 short times and running in the 110-112 mph range... I doubt the tune is all the problem with your car. You might have a slipping trans. That would account for the low 60s and mph.

Thanks.
I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. I know a tune is part of it though. It's funny how the car seems to launch harder on the street tires. It's like I'm shot out of a cannon. But with the ET streets last night, it just felt slow.
Maybe this will help some. Last night before I staged, I'd roll through the burnout box, hold the brake and proceed with heating up the tires. When I let off the brake to roll out, my rpms would go to like 5k and the car wouldn't move. Then the rpms would drop to 3k and I'd start rolling. Is that normal with slicks? It never does that on street tires.
I'm starting to think the same thing.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like to me what happend was when you put slicks on the car and it started hooking, it was too much stress on the trans and it started giving. Look into a good built 4l60 and you'll start seeing some low 1.6 high 1.5 short times. Good luck with everything and get that SOB tuned.

Any suggestions on transmission builders? I hear Rock-on a lot, but I was thinking about getting my trans rebuilt with some beefier stuff.
Any suggestions?
