Default Is the plastic necessary?

Is the plastic shield in front of the AC and radiator necessary, can I take that out completely when I carve out the bottom of the air filter housing to get more air flow?

I don't think it would be worth it. Most people on here would probably tell you to stay away from the free air mod the way it is.

If you mean the piece that seems to scrape on the ground when go thru a dip, yes that is needed, if you take it off you'll be overheating on the highway

I dont think he is talking about the air dam, I think he is talking about one of the plastic pieces that 'blocks' air from going into the lid.

i did the free ram air mod, waste of time in my opinion....all it does is get the bottom of the filter dirty.

that piece kinda helps make air flow through the radiator. I wouldnt touch it, and i agree the !FRA mod sucks, it's the only free mod that isnt worth wasting time on IMHO

I removed it when I removed the windshield washer resevior. I haven't noticed anything different except it's cleaner.
