Is the plastic necessary?

Is the plastic necessary? Is the plastic shield in front of the AC and radiator necessary, can I take that out completely when I carve out the bottom of the air filter housing to get more air flow?

that piece kinda helps make air flow through the radiator. I wouldnt touch it, and i agree the !FRA mod sucks, it's the only free mod that isnt worth wasting time on IMHO
