Pics: Corbeau GTS II seats, carpet, custom mats installed…opinions?
Well I’ve been wanting to redo my interior since I purchased my SS this passed Jan/06. I’ve never really cared for the stock pleather seats, plus the driver seat had some good wear on it. So I decided to install some Corbeau 100% real leather seats and change out the coffee or cola stained carpet while I was at it.
I don’t have a lot of time to get too detailed with my install (busy day at work) but I wanted to get some pictures up and see what everybody thought. I decided to go with the leather GTS II seats w/ the inflatable lumbar because I like their less aggressive racing style, plus they closely resembled my BMW 330ci seats in style and comfort (just need to add the seat heaters next). I decided to go with jet black carpet to match the seats and darken up my interior (stock color is Ebony Black). The install took a little longer then I planed mainly because the carpet wasn’t pre-trimmed (6-7hrs or so for everything + detailing). The install was fairly simple just a little tedious at times.
The seats do ride a bit higher then stock and take some getting use to but I’m thinking I like them better, defiantly makes it easier to get in/out of the car. The seat brackets were purchased from Corbeau, not the best design but they work for now. It appears that the brackets may catch on the seats a little if they are adjusted to far forward or back, and I’m not too comfortable with the adjusting lever either.
The carpet I chose to go with probably weighs less then half of the stock carpet, and from what I can tell so far still keeps out the same amount of heat and noise as the stock carpet did. If I were to do it again I would try to find pre-molded and trimmed carpet next time….Well, these pictures don’t do the interior justice…I think it looks much better in person but gives you a good idea. Now that she’s all put back together she looks and smells brand new and I love it. What do you think…thx
Project cost $ 1500 total

Thanks guys for the positive responses…..they’re nice to hear after all the hard work.
Sgt. Puds: The seat belts were a concern before I started this project. I knew my new seats didn’t come with a bracket but I was prepared to have something fabricated if needed. Since the seat height ended up being higher then stock the belts don’t come across my face like I thought it would and I found that I can slip it between the seat and headrest without a problem, for now.
Anyone interested in my stock seats just let me know. They’re Onyx Black: The driver seat is pretty worn and has full power adjustments. The passenger seat looks and feels just fine. I have a whole list of items that I will be listing on ebay or this site soon (stock shifter, thermostat, headlights, side markers, SS rims, etc….)
Demonbird: I thought about having them embroidered with the “SS” logo but decided to pass on it. I didn’t want to limit myself if I decided to sale them one day. However, I will be adding seat heaters at the end of summer and changing out the head rest for a tilting set.
Thanks again guys!!
