Manual Transmission - Short Shifter?????

I just got a 02 hurst SLP shifter and it looks about the same length as my stock 96 shifter. I'll be installing it tommorow. Will it be shorter? I didn't know if i would have to changed the shift fork or if the change would be just in the shifter..........

If i'm making sense help me out.

Its not the stick that changes length on the hurst, its all in the base for shorter throws.Add a short stick from ws6 store for $25 and call it good
