Default STS Turbo or headers... uughh

So I was thinking of getting the STS turbo and lighting up the street with fire.. then I heard that the basic system with boost controller, 42LB injectors, blow off valve and installtion would tally up a $6500 price tag... gulp.... added HP = 100-150HP, I like the sound of it, BUT !!! mucho freakin dinero.....

So I'm debating to forget the turbo and go with either Kooks headers or QTP's and getting 30-50hp for $1600.

Where do you guys stand on all this crappola ?
Just bored at work and thinking of camaro mods.

30-50hp with LT's not a chance mate not on your setup anyhow. Maybe more like 15-20bhp.

QTP and Kooks are both nice as are Stainless Works for stainless steel headers. (you'll need a new Y pipe with all LT's).

Cheaper alternatives that will net about the same hp:
-Edlebrock
-Pacesetter
-Hooker
-Jet Hot

To name a few, these are only coated not stainless so that's why they are cheaper.

If you want more power look at chucking a cam in there also. If you're auto a stall will be beneficial also.

I would get the QTP's or kooks if i had the money.
they will run u around 800-900
and you will need a Y pipe like he jus said

but you should consider maybe a little bigger shot of nitrous ls1 cars can hanle up to a 150

one thing you should lookat is..actually two things. 1st. your just looking at peak hp gains...a turbo setup will give you a bigger power band, lts will give you a nice power increase, but it'll push your power peak up a lil..and won't be as big as a turbo setup. 2nd. once you turbo the car..and say you build the bottom end..you can add boost...but with lts...there isn't anyway to extract more power from just that.

The Stainless Steel look pretty, but the coated headers are the way to go if you want to keep things cool under the hood. It's cooler under there now than before I put the headers on. Most ceramic-aluminum coatings look good and wear really well, too.

[EDIT] For a small fraction of the cost of a turbo you could put a N2O kit on and get as much or more HP.

You could go with Pacesetter LTs and get a Cam kit from TSP for around a grand. And make some good gains.

to extract the same amount of HP from your car N/A it would cost you close to the same anyway. LT's might give you 20hp, but after that your going to be digging into the engine to see any gains as high. If you have the money and the time to get it right, the turbo is the way to go.

Get the headers....Kooks or QTP. No matter what you have to spend on them, you will know that it was well spent on a quality product.
