Question about intake?
Ive got a 99 TA ,for about the last year ,since a really cold spell ive had this whining sound coming from the engine.(its been about 20k miles its been making this noise) Nobody has been able to tell me what the noise is or where exactly its coming from. The other day I noticed a small puddle of oil underneath the car, assuming it was a tranny fluid leak I took it to the mechanic that just changed out the clutch for me about a month ago. He looks underneath and tells me its engine oil dripping down from somewhere on the back of the engine onto the bell housing and then onto the ground. His opinion is he feels its the intake gasket is leaking, and if not that it could be the head gaskets. Now I really dont know **** about intakes and heads etc. Could this be the problem that is causing the oil leak and the whining noise,or neither.PLZ give me your opinions THNX.

No the whining noise is constant (cold ,warm, all the time) just gets faster and louder with the rpm. Whats the chances of the oil leak being from the back of the intake ,I didnt know there was oil in the intake?
