Probably not legal. If you want to tint your headlights yourself, use VHT Niteshades. http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/vhtnigpain.html

What state are you in? Anything obscuring the headlights are illegal in CA, this much I know.

Is there a way to get the stuff off if you don't like it or need to take it off?

Why don't you just get some headlight blackouts then? They're only like $40 from summit, you can install/remove whenever you want. I've got them on my car and they look good.

Because I don't like the way the headlight blackouts look, and I don't want to do my headlights anyway. I want to do the rear lights, but if I get pulled over than I can say they came that way or something but if I get a ticket anyway then I need to be able to take the stuff off.

The best thing to do for headlights if you want a smoked look is to paint the inside of the housing. Ive seen a headlight that was painted everywhere except the reflective portion. It looked really dark, maybe that is the option you should try. Just search for the Whistler mod on this forum. There is a step by step process for taking the headlights apart so you can paint the inside.

Pretty sure anybody that pulls you over will know that tail lights don't come from the factory tinted.

If you're going to want the ability to remove it, you're pretty much stuck with getting blackouts for the tail lights. If you tint them w/niteshades or something like that.....it ain't comin off without some serious work.

i think im gonna go with the blackouts for the headlights, it would be nice to just take them off if i get pulled over and not have to deal with the ticket. that is if the cops not a dick which would be rare
