Okay I think I found another one...
How does this one look? And how much do you think they would come down with the price?

Very clean, low miles, listed as Z-28 but appears to be an SS. I wouldn't come down much if I was them, maybe a grand. It's spring. Private prices ain't dealer prices, and super-clean, low mile pieces bring a premium. Me, I think they're worth it. I figure 1 musclecar mile equals about three normal car miles. But that's me.

I'm with Gannet on this one, it does look to have the SS badges on the front fenders, it seems to be a clean low mile nice looking car.
He's right about the weather getting better, and the prices going up on any sporty car
This one might be worth the price (and they'll be someone come in and say they got the exact same car for a song) I'd go check it out at least even if it's a long drive
Go down to about 18k and see if they bite (only if it's in really good shape tho)

ZR1 chrome wheels were an SLP option for 2001 SS’s. Is that what those are? I know that the base 2001 SS wheels were 5-spoke aluminum. I think that would be a reasonable price if it is an actual SS, especially if it has some of the nicer SLP options. It obviously does not have either of the exhaust upgrades. The auburn differential and/or 1LE suspension would definitely increase the value, in my eyes. Since it is probably a 5 hour drive for you, contact the dealer. If you are serious, let him or her know, but ask for pictures of the driver and passenger door stickers. From these you can quasi-verify it as an SS, and get the optional content information. As you probably know, the SS SLP optional content would be listed on the passenger door sticker. If the stickers indicate it is an SS, and you are very interested, verify the VIN with SLP. If it is base SS or Z28, I would say that price would be high for the Midwest, but not unheard of. I am not familiar at all with the market on the west coast.

So you think $16000 is a good price? I am willing to bet they wouldn't go much less than that since they did just drop the price and all... It does look like a very clean car and it is an SS....

3 owners in 13k hmm that's a little odd, tho not unheard of (people get laid off, divorced, etc etc that forces them to sell the car).
$16k is a pretty good price for a low mile 01 SS, but the 8 hr drive would suck, if indeed something was wrong with it.
FWIW I'd probably take the 8hr drive to see it (I was going to drive 6 hrs to get a WS6)
As far as offering less, they might not take anything less than 16k, but it never hurts to ask

My local chevy dealer just sold a 2000 Z28 for $14000, 28000 miles, absolutely mint condition. That car is an SS with less miles, gotta be worth at least 2 grand more. In my opinion, I would only buy it if your not using it as a daily driver, or it will depreciate big time. Looking at the pics the interior looks Brand New. Good Luck

My concern is that they dropped 3k off the price overnight... Maybe they are just getting sick of it being on their lot? Or maybe they found something wrong with it?
Also, my Mustang which I might be willing to do a trade-in (my friend who was going to buy my car might not have enough to now) is not paid off. I know most dealerships can pay off the loan for you but do you lose money that way?
For instance, I owe about $6k on it right now. If they determined that they were going to give me $10k for my car if it WAS paid off, would they just subtract the amount still owed? Or would they try to screw me over there too? I wouldn't mind doing a trade-in even though they would give me a little less than what I would get if I sold it, but not if they are going to screw me over...

If it's a true SS then it's worth an eight hour drive. Keep in mind alot of people buy a very low mileage car, then won't drive it just to keep the value up to what they paid for it, use a car like that strictly for the weekends.
