Default NE ONE Ice there intakes down for improveing ETs

Just curious as the LTx engines are quite hot for long periods of time. I am looking for before/after if you have iced your intakes down, or used a Pro Cooler bag to reduce your intakes temp.

Some guys do, can work well if you have the time and can avoid warming it back up getting through the staging lanes and the track operates smoothly. One track I go to really lollygags getting you to the line, but another runs you right through.

The colder the better. On my Stock Eliminator car Ice was worth .05-.07 in the 1/8th mile! I fill a bunch of Zip Lock bags with ice and pack them around the injectors, fuel rails, throttle-body, and intake. If you are gentle you can leave them on until you get to the head of the staging. That way you can take them off right before it's your turn to go up to the water box (It helps if you have a friend to remove them for you). Even if you use bags make sure you have paper towels handy to mop up any leaks. I always stuff paper towels around the Opti when I ice my intake. It is, of coarse more effective if you push the car down the staging lanes.

I was going to use those gel packs, to "ice it down". I normally leave around 200 degrees, water temp, so I know that isnt helping much. But, with the exception of the tires, I like to run it as if it is on the street.

If you are trying to go rounds I wouldn't mess with icing it. If you want to go fast your water temp is too high also. I usually stage at about 140 deg. I don't know how the tune works out with a stock pcm at that kind of temp. I have been running totally open loop with no adjustments for engine temp, etc. (DFI).

On a street car why waste your time I mean really. I love the things that all my fellow LTX owners ask.

We tried it on my LT1 and pushed it through the lanes, car didnt hook so I didnt see a change. The funny thing is, my best passes are usally right when I get to the track, tech it in and make run, not much cool down time but for some reason maybe the tires being warm from the drive or what, they car always lays down the best number the first hit

Me too. Never thought about it being the tires. But, I did always wonder why.

Do more of a burn out if you think it's the tires.

I usually try get back into the staging lanes as fast as I can after making a pass, which at most tracks puts you closer to the front of the line in that lane, that way after a few passes I'm first in line and when I ice down the intake I litterally get to start the car and pull into the burnout box right away, not heating it up again, and you can see a big time improvement.

I sit in the staging lanes with the AC on and watch tv until it's my turn to beat an LS1.

Have you seen actual time differences. I know LT1's run better cool. Just havent seen a real time , other than the post above.

hahaha

Icing the intake will give you results, but it's only worth it if you can keep the car off until you run. Like some people said, push it up the staging lanes.

I used to have all my runs logged in a spreadsheet, but I don’t have it here. If I remember right it usually made about a .07 to .11 difference depending on weather and track condtions.

Makes absolutely no difference at WOT, it ignores the O2 either way, open or closed loop

not completely, if your lean when you go into closed loop it will add a percentage to your pe table.
