Default 99 Frc

Me and a friend did heads, cam, headers, blackwing and z06 mufflers in his 99 frc. Here are the before and after dyno pulls. He bought everything used and was told he should do around 420rwhp. We cam up pretty short. The cam is a comp cam .584 .595 232/232, with LSA of 113, heads are 5.3 heads ported and polished, slp headers, and h-pipe with the blackwing air intake. The car is a 6 speed with 19 inch wheels. It was 314 rwhp/322wrtq before and now 385 rwhp/372rwtq with a/f 13.1. Do those number sound right or does the car have a lot left in it and just needs to be tuned more?

It sounds pretty low for those mods. Did this get tuned at a reputable shop?
I would think this setup would make at least 420+ rwhp even if the heads weren't that great.

This is my first time trying to tune a cammed car. I am new to tunning, thats why I am wondering if the car can make up that much power. I have a copy of the tune from the previous owners car and used some of that info and cam up wit a tune for this car. I have a Z06 and have done a lot of tuning on it with just bolt ons with good results, so I am familiar with tuning just by far no pro at it.

I am going to do a little more on my car in the next week and then pull my wideband out and put it his vette and start from scratch. I have read its hard to do autotune on a cammed car, because the over lap with throw of the reading or something like that.

Frst of all I think 314rwhp with headers is a little low to begin with, also does he still have the stock ls1 intake manifold on there or does he have the ls6? Did it make the most power everywhere at 13-1 a/f or is that where you set it because everyone says too?? My z06 made more power at around 12.2-1 a/f than it did at 13-1. Just a thought.

314rwhp was with the stock manifolds blackwing and stock z06 mufflers. I did a couple of pulls at 12.1 and they went down to 377rwhp/364rwtq and I just kept leaning it out and it made the most power at 13.1. I was told that was the leanest you wanted to run a ls1/ls6. I have my z06 at 12.9, thats where it made the most hp.

It needs a real tune. I had a cam only setup at one time. I went from 318rwhp to 370rwhp. My afr was just like yours. 13 to 1. I sent my pcm to Ed Wright and when I got it back I took my car back to the dyno. My dyno ended up being 390rwhp with the new tune and 13 to 1 afr. There is more to change than just leaning out the car

Default tune

Well honestly there is not that much to it tuning table wise. There is the PE table, high and low octane table. As for what makes power.......well Ive stated this before just cause the car can take the timing does not mean its making more power. So if your tuning untill it knocks then leaning it out there is a chance it may do better with less timing. Ive had a car that took 35 degrees of timing.........but would peak on power at 32 degrees.......upgraded springs.........mustang dyno or dynojet?

Its on a dynojet. We installed a cam kit with matching springs. I know what you mean about the timing, I didnt even think to try to pull some back since I wasnt getting any kr.
