Standing start mile. Anyone else in?

Dan (from Speed) and I are driving my car the 1,000 miles there to compete.

We are still working on the Nova, we hope to get it finished in time. I am not brave enough to drive it down to the race, so it will be in the trailer.

How fast do you think your cars will run?

I've done 167 missing 4th on a road just over 1 mile. I have a GPSRD that displays top speed. I should def. get over 170 on the bottle in a mile easily. Might do this, it's in NC and I'm in VA.

Nevermind going, too much stuff required that I don't have. 4-point cage requiered over 135MPH.

If we get the car done it will be testing at the Monster mile. Not sure how fast it will go with a 72 Nova aero, but if it stays on the ground 200+ is possible. It will be a 6 litre truck based engine for the mile, then the boost ready 402 will go in for the pump gas drags.

Kurt, I hope to see you there, I think it will be a good time. I guess you could say I'm brave enough to drive my car there, or you might just say I'm stupid enough to try it.


I'm not going to win, as there are cars attending that are way out of my league, and my car only tech's for 175mph. Mathmatically it could go 205mph in 5th gear, but at that point my ass is getting kicked out.

If all goes as planned, it will turn out to be a nice spring road trip with a little fun along the way.

Why don't you add the safety stuff to make it legal? The record in C street power adder is in the mid 170's, you could go 200 in a f-car with 8-900hp at the flywheel.
Anyway, if we make it you can use our tools for any repairs you might need to make for the trip home.

Well, with the amount of head room their is in a 4th gen f-body, I feel a full cage makes the car much more dangerous when driving on the street without a helmet (which is where it is 99% of the time).

Thanks for offering the use of your tools, though I am hoping I won't need any.

I would love to take my GTO over there...but yeah, gotta have cage, etc. Yuck. This car is so rock steady >140 mph compared to an F-body, it would really be interesting to try. I'd also LOVE to go do the Silver State Classic, but same issues surface....oh well....

Jim has gone almost 150mph in the 1/4, I'd think that 200 would be pretty easy for him.

Now I really wish he had the proper rollcage!!

I just Talked to Jim (INTMD8) on his way home .He was trying to keep it down to 185 mph but still went 199!!!!! and is driving it home ! Congrats Jim your car is truly amazing. :hail:

Thanks guys. I made the 125 and 150mph licensing runs and was going for the 175 run. Their is a 10mph buffer but over that and you are done.

The car makes 890rwhp at 24lbs of boost, 850rwhp on 22lbs of boost, and 790rwhp at 19lbs of boost.

For the first full run I thought 19lbs of boost would be a good starting point, since there are absolutely no aero modifications done to the car. I was wrong, since the first full run ended up with 199.4mph. (which ended my weekend of racing).

The speedo needle stuck at 150+ after that run, I had to disassemble the cluster to pull it back around.

I had a great time regardless of getting booted. The ECTA put on a great event. Very professional and well organized. Thanks to Keith Turk for borrowing me his fire jacket, and not being too hard on me after breaking tech speed.

The drive was LONG, especially in the rain. The car ran great though, and was getting 20.5mpg @85mph. It was alot of fun through the mountains too.

Was there more "in it" ? Throw some duct tape over the head lights and try for 220mph next time.

I went there sunday it was a great day saw a viper trap something like 226 it was that TT American flag car I was impressed with that.

Seeing the big fat window wipers still on the car in the vid is hilarious.
