Thumbs down Car dealers are unbelieveable...

Wow...So I went today to look at a WS6 with 19,000 miles. I get to the dealer and they said it just came off the truck from Alabama. This car was FILTHY! So I tell them to get it cleaned up so I can take a look at it and they of course wanted to go talk numbers. I made sure that I was at least able to start it up and look her over, and even got to look under her. So I agreed to go talk numbers, well they show me that they bought this car-from the auction- for 21,500....hmm overpriced eh? Well then they say that I will be charged for an inspection, 2 new keys and fobs, tires, and DETAILING! I was furious, I can't believe that they would charge me to clean up a car that I was looking to buy. This car was overpriced and overrated, for a car with supposedly only 19,000 miles the tires look like they had about 40,000. Total price they wanted was 26,000. I guess my search continues...

some car dealers are shady. I try my best not to mislead anyone and be honest. We just sent our 1999 WS6 auto 52K and it did 14,500 at the auction..

anyone from around amarillo here?

One of the dealerships has a brand new 2002 special edition transam (yes, I said brand new, never owned before). and they are asking over 40 grand for it and will not budge. At least that is what I last heard a few months ago. I went and looked at it last year and I believe that had 43,xxx for the price and they just walked off when I tried to discuss lowering the price with them.

That car was worth no more than $16,000, IMHO.

Amen to that, I'm sorry but for as much money as they wanted they could turn it into a flowerpot for all I care. And of course one of the first things the "used car manager" says is oh man your the second person thats been in here to look at it today, but supposedly it had just come off the truck. *******.

When I was looking at cars I was looking at a 96 cobra I told them I would give them 7,500 for it + my trade in they told me no they wanted 9,000 for it. The dealer then told the other dealer.. there is another guy comming down tomorrow to look at it? I was like OOk Like I care lol. So I left took my money someplace else and bought the z28 thank god I didnt buy that cobra the oil gauge didnt work and the gear shifter was shakin all over the place. But to be honest even when I got a good deal on my car the dealers just put alotta stress on you to get the price higher and higher. When in the end it's the same damn price you had been telling them They coulda just saved everyone 3 hours of talking for nothing lol.

i work at a dealership in service and inspections and detailing is not cheap. especially detailing because i mean they really detail them. our guy spends a couple of hours on crappy saturns and the cars cetainly look awsome when he gets finished. i still say it is too much. if they paid what they said i think they could still make some money at 23,000

Do they add the detailing to the price of the car after they detail it? just wondering?

your not going to see it on the sticker however they have to factor it into the price to remain profitable. but detailing doesn't mean they send it through a car wash vacuum the interior and spray good smelling stuff and put it on the lot. they buff it make sure it has everything it did when new make sure everything is fixed and clean the carpet condition the leather. armor all the dash i mean you name it

Regardless if the detailing is in the price or not 26,000 is too much imo.

Well I'm gonna have to look elsewhere, this car is from Alabama, and it looks like Billy Bob took this ****** offroading. The mud caked on the wheel wells had to be about 2 inches deep. Bald tires at 19k miles?? The manager said it was due to the stock tires being "very soft". The motor was so dirty you could bearly make out the pontiac sticker on the lid. Sounded mean as hell for stock exhaust though...One quick question, I made sure the WS6 code was there but there was also a WS9 code next to it, normal??
