Arrow Dyno results: FAST 78 vs FAST 90 on a 408 stroker

Okay, both tests were done on the exact same Superflow dyno. The tests were done on different days.

We got the car at 12.6 A/F ratio with the FAST 90 and NW throttle body, which was extremely close to the 12.5 of the FAST 78 and BBK 80MM throttle body.

The disappointing part - the car only picked up 4 peak wheel HP between the FAST 78 setup and FAST 90 setup.

The good side - We overlayed the two graphs, and that is where the 90MM setup really proved its worth. The power curve was MUCH broader. It had an average gain of 15.89 RWHP over the 78MM setup at any given RPM. The area under the curve grew pretty substantially. It also made peak HP sooner

FAST 90MM final numbers:

STP corrected
526 RWHP and 475 RWTQ

DynoJet corrected
556 RWHP and 500 RWTQ

FAST 78MM final numbers:

STP corrected
522 RWHP unknown RWTQ

No DJ corrected numbers available

After seeing the overlayed graphs, I am happy with the results. Just looking at peak HP will disgust some people, but power under the curve is what you want, and this definitely made a huge improvement there.

My mods are in my sig, so you be the judges as to the worth of the swap. I can always go with a larger cam

Nice gains with the 90!
Are they out of the box or ported?

The FAST 90 has ported runners, but unported intake ports. The FAST 78 had no porting whatsoever.

Here is a vehicle speed comparison of RWHP

Speed-----FAST 78-----FAST 90-----gain

50 ----- 125 ----- 152 ----- 27

60 ----- 174 ----- 195 ----- 21

70 ----- 268 ----- 277 ----- 9

80 ----- 325 ----- 345 ----- 20

90 ----- 392 ----- 409 ----- 17

100 ----- 450 ----- 472 ----- 22

110 ----- 493 ----- 510 ----- 17

120 ----- 518 ----- 523 ----- 5

130 ----- 515 ----- 520 ----- 5

PEAK RWHP with 78 occured at about 126 mph

PEAK RWHP with 90 occured at about 124 mph

Average increase under the curve : 15.89 RWHP

NICE GAINS UNDER THE CURVE - ESPECIALLY DOWN LOW

It's nice you did the comparo but your comparing apples to oranges since the 90 had some port work done.

agree with the above...w/o porting the runners, i dont see much of a significant gain from going to one or the other..nice numbers none the less.

pretty much the same type results I got a few years ago testing them on my 383. 78-90 picked up very little peak, but it picked up close to 40rwtq down low
