Default (GERMAN) Castrol Syntec 0W-30 CHEAP at AUTOZONE!

I don't really know what forum this should go in, but I thought I'd let everyone know that right now autozone has some deal going on with the german castrol syntec 0w-30. It might apply to other castrol products as well, but this is an oil that has had good OUA according to information I've read online, both on this site and oil sites, in my area (northern indiana) the normal price is 5.19 per quart and today I bought it for $4.59...

I didn't ask how long this deal lasts, but it's a full synthetic and that's pretty cheap. Make sure you check the back and look for Made in Germany / Imported on the right side of the bottle..

Plus Autozone has the deal where if you make 5 purchases of $20 or more, you get a $20 credit to spend... Hope this saves someone some money..

Cool. My local AZs have never had it, but I heard they went to a new bottle that says "European Formula" on it, so I'm hoping they went across the board with the German stuff and will have it locally now. I'll check, thanks for the heads up on the special.

The Euro formula replaced the green stuff in my area, it still says made in Germany though. The oil itself is kind of gold in color though, not sure about the differences other than that.

I wonder if german syn oil would make my lifter ticking go away? But then again, I always wonder.

Not likely. Are you sure its lifter noise and not piston slap?

That seems like a little much when you can just buy it at Autozone.

Autozone is not going to carry it any longer in most of their stores. Some larger stores with extra shelf space may keep it but most will not. In my area every Autozone within about 25 miles of my home is out and claims they will not get it back in.

I would think there must be some restrictions on carrying oil back from Germany though. I mean I love my LS1 but it's not worth "Midnight Express"

If Autozone stops carrying it, it would be a lot easier for you guys to drive up to Canada to buy some instead of going to Germany!

if you get the BC, look on the back and make sure it says "Made in Belgium" at the bottom of the bottle. ASAIK, GC is tops. So get that. I dont think many UOA have been done on BC, but it should be almost as good as GC.

No, there are two types of bottles but both say "Made in Germany" on the back. If it does not say that it is not the good stuff. Here is a link to a thread I started a month or so ago and it shows pictures of the correct bottles.

I went back and the 5w-40 was the one I wasn't sure about, and it wasn't even Castrol Syntec, it was the one in the green bottle. They did have 0w-30 but it was the one Made in the USA

So I guess I'll try a different store, in the next town over, since there's only one AZ in this small town.

YeSSS!! I found 12 quarts, enought for two oil changes.

A question, I told them to look it up on their computer to see if they're still going to carry it, It said "still active", does this mean all 0w-30, including US Castrol or just the GC?
